چکیده

PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera networks have an important role in surveillance systems. They have the ability to direct the attention to interesting events that occur in the scene. In order to achieve such behavior the cameras in the network use a process known as sensor slaving: one (or more) master camera monitors a wide area and tracks moving targets so as to provide the positional information to one (or more) slave camera. The slave camera foveates at the targets in high resolution. In this paper, we propose a simple method to solve two typical problems that are the basic building blocks to create high level functionality in PTZ camera networks: the computation of the world to image homographies and the computation of camera to camera homographies. The first one is used for computing the image sensor observation model in sequential target tracking, the second one is used for camera slaving. Finally a cooperative tracking approach exploiting the use of both homographies

Towards Calibrating a Pan-Tilt-Zoom Camera Network

In this paper we discuss the problem of recovering the calibration of a network of pan-tilt-zoom cameras. The intrinsic parameters of each camera over its full range of zoom settings are estimated through a two step procedure. We first determine the intrinsic parameters at the camera's lowest zoom setting very accurately by capturing an extended panorama. Our model includes two parameters of ra...

Cooperative Moving Object Segmentation using Two Cameras based on Background Subtraction and Image Registration

Moving camera, such as PTZ (pan-tilt-zoom) camera, has been widely applied in visual surveillance system. However, it’s difficult to extract moving objects because of the dynamic background caused by the camera motion. In this paper, a novel framework for moving object segmentation exploiting two cameras collaboration is presented by combining background subtraction and image registration metho...

Unsupervised Calibration of Camera Networks and Virtual PTZ Cameras

Pan-Tilt-Zoom (PTZ) cameras are widely used in video surveillance tasks. In particular, they can be used in combination with static cameras to provide high resolution imagery of interesting events in a scene on demand. Nevertheless, PTZ cameras only provide a single trajectory at a time. Hence, engineering algorithms for common computer vision tasks, such as automatic calibration or tracking, f...

Enhancement of 3D Capture of Room-Sized Dynamic Scenes with Pan-Tilt-Zoom Cameras

We present a method for augmenting the 3D reconstruction of a dynamic indoor scene using Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras. The system combines Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras with static wide field-of-view depth cameras within a networked platform. Traditionally, Pan-Tilt-Zoom cameras have been extensively used in surveillance applications, since their ability to pan, tilt and zoom in on an object allows them to co...
